This afternoon the McLaren Monaco class hosted twenty-one competitors in the ring of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show. The Italian course designer Uliano Vezzani created a course for the riders with 14 fences to be jumped in under 78 seconds. A time allowed in which nine combinations managed to jump clear. Fourth to go, the experienced Marco Kutchser and his stallion Charco had a perfect and also very fast round (59.96 seconds), which no other competitor managed to beat.Daniel Deusser, his fellow countryman, riding Kiana van het Herdershof (60.21 seconds) joined him on the podium a few minutes later. The German rider was thrilled by this victory. "It’s great feeling to win this class, which was amazingly fast. My horse jumped really well, he loves this kind of class. We both had a good round and we were lucky: although the other riders had great rounds, they weren’t able to go as fast as us.I’m going to ride another horse tomorrow in the Grand Prix, that’s why I haven’t entered the second 5* class of the day. But first things first: for the moment I’m enjoying today’s victory, tomorrow we’ll see how everything works out.

Ireland’s Bertram Allen completed the top three with a time of 60.26 seconds. Only thirty hundredths of a second separated the top three riders in this incredibly fast class.
